Maintaining your Unitary Safety Surface
While Poured-in-Place and Bonded Rubber safety playground surfaces require much less maintenance than loose-fill safety mulch, they are not maintenance free. Maintaining your unitary safety surface is very important to extend the life of your surface and help you protect your investment. The more you invest in maintaining and cleaning your surfacing now, the longer you will be able to enjoy your playground.
At a minimum, you should follow the Maintenance and Cleaning Instructions that come with the product. In addition, you should consider having a roll coat professionally applied to the surfacing every few years.
A roll coat is a specially formulated binder that is rolled on to the top of the surfacing to replace the original binder, which degrades over time from exposure to the elements and from abrasion. A roll coat goes on clear and coats and penetrates the top layer of the surfacing. It reinforces the bonds between the rubber, increases UV protection, and leaves the surfacing looking rejuvenated.
While applying the roll coat, Spread Tech can inspect the playground surfacing for any sign of cracking, granulating or flaking and easily repair it before a minor problem grows into a major problem, which can be expensive to repair. Because we understand the importance of protecting your playground investment, we can extend the manufacturer warranty on your unitary surface when you have Spread Tech apply a roll coat to your safety surfacing (some restrictions apply, click here for information on bonded rubber warranty extensions, click here for information on poured-in-place warranty extensions).
In addition to offering maintenance and repair services, we also offer pre-measured, do-it-yourself Poured-in-Place Patch Kits, Bonded Rubber Patch Kits and Roll Coat Kits.
